What's the Difference Between Overstock and Authentic Designer Items?

What Overstock Actually Is
Overstock refers to excess inventory from authorized retailers or brands themselves—real products made by the same factories using the same materials and standards as pieces sold at full price. They're authentic, just surplus.
How It's Different From Fakes
Overstock pieces pass all quality checks because they *are* quality. They use the same materials, construction methods, and hardware as anything sold at retail. The only difference is they didn't sell through authorized channels at full price.
The Catch
Overstock might come from returns, warehouse overages, or seasonal items that didn't sell. This means there's no original packaging, tags might be worn, or there's a return label on the box. The *piece itself* is identical to retail, but the presentation isn't.
Authentication Applies the Same Way
You still need to verify overstock pieces carefully. Just because something is cheaper doesn't mean it's authentic. Apply the same authentication standards—material quality, stitching, hardware, logos—regardless of source. Price alone doesn't prove overstock status.
